Bronte Kelly Foundation
sgfleet is proud to support the Bronte Kelly Foundation.
The foundation was set up in late 2006 to support and raise funds for little Bronte Kelly who was born with a large hemangioma on her temple.
A Hemangioma is a vascular tumour which normally presents within the first 10 days of life.
Two weeks after her birth, a number of new Hemangiomas appeared on Bronte’s body - on her eyelid, tip of her nose, top lip, shoulder blade and temple area. Bronte has endured many treatments including steroids, Vincristine (a form of Chemotherapy) and surgery on her eyelid. Unfortunately none of these were as successful as anticipated.
As a result, Bronte’s family was forced to seek ground breaking and expensive surgery in New York. Just few months ago Bronte and her family travelled to the US to see Doctor Milton Waner, a co-director of the Vascular and Birthmarks Institute of New York. There Bronte underwent four procedures to correct her numerous hemangiomas.
”The future looks bright for our Bronte,” says her father Grant Kelly. “Even though she now has limited use of her eyelid, it may take as long as 6 months before we know if she needs any follow up treatment. We just need to wait for the associated scar tissue in her eye to soften for her to regain strength in the eyelid muscle before she gets that usage back.”
Bronte and her family will need to make further trips to the US to visit Dr Waner. If you would like to support the Bronte Kelly Foundation you can visit the web site.
