Kar41 Completes Kidney Kar Rally
Even though the Kar41 team are still cleaning up red dust they thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the 19th Kidney Health Australia Kar Rally! They enjoyed being part of raising over $500,000 and increasing awareness of kidney disease, they relished every bumpy, dusty kilometre of the 6,000km trip from Darwin to Dubbo and they cherished the camaraderie and generosity not only of the other rally teams but of the fabulous country people they meet over the course of the 10 day trip.
“I cannot do enough to thank our Sponsors!” said Khaled El Sayed, Kar41 team leader, when he visited sgfleet recently. “Without them we would not have made it to Dubbo and we would not have achieved the honor of being the 2nd highest fundraiser.” The Kar41 team raised almost $36,000 and the top three fundraisers contributed about $100,000.
In accepting sgfleet’s sponsorship award, Marketing Manager Marc Sibbald said that “sgfleet was very pleased to have played a part in this exciting and worthwhile event. It was not just about being a sponsor for us, it’s about creating awarness.” He said.
Kar 41 finished a credible 17th out of 70 entrants. “Overall the car preformed brilliantly” said Khaled. “We did not have a single flat tyre!” But it was not all smooth sailing. During the rally Kar41 came over a crest a little too quickly and lost its exhaust system resulting in a 130km detour to find a repairer. Click here for a complete rally update.
“It was a great trip” said Khaled, “my only regret is that I waited ten years to do it a second time!”
