Truck School

Truck School

In order to deliver excellence to our clients many sgfleet staff recently went back to school!

Over 110 staff from all areas of our business attended Truck School, a full day training session designed to educate participants on the anatomy of a truck, the commercial vehicle market and operational nuances from our customer’s perspective.

Run by our specialist Commercial team, this training is an excellent example of sgfleet’s focus on being a learning organisation. “With the integration of a specialist Commercial division into our business in 2008 there was a need to unjumble, the sometimes very confusing, heavy vehicle terminology,” says David Threlfall, General Manager, Commercial. “We wanted to share as much information as possible with our staff so that they have a more thorough understanding of their client’s commercial vehicle needs” says Mr Threlfall.

Participants learnt about the uniqueness of the heavy commercial vehicle market place by hearing about truck body and trailer types, axle weights, truck components, OHS issues, Australian truck emission standards, weight distribution, and heavy vehicle maintenance as well as the importance of understanding the vehicles’ application and environment.

“Truck School is a great example of knowledge sharing,” says CEO, Andy Mulcaster.  “Initiatives such as this can only reinforce our reputation as an expert in the Fleet Management Industry.”
